Al-Muddaththir 1
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ ﴿١﴾
Ya ayyuha almuddaththiru
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! The Noble Quran
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ ﴿١﴾
Ya ayyuha almuddaththiru
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! The Noble Quran
قُمْ فَأَنذِرْ ﴿٢﴾
Qum faanthir
Arise and warn! The Noble Quran
وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ ﴿٣﴾
Warabbaka fakabbir
And your Lord (Allah) magnify! The Noble Quran
وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ ﴿٤﴾
Wathiyabaka fatahhir
And your garments purify! The Noble Quran
وَٱلرُّجْزَ فَٱهْجُرْ ﴿٥﴾
Waalrrujza faohjur
And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! The Noble Quran
وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ ﴿٦﴾
Wala tamnun tastakthiru
And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). The Noble Quran
وَلِرَبِّكَ فَٱصْبِرْ ﴿٧﴾
Walirabbika faisbir
And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! The Noble Quran
فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِى ٱلنَّاقُورِ ﴿٨﴾
Faitha nuqira fee alnnaqoori
Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); The Noble Quran
فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ ﴿٩﴾
Fathalika yawmaithin yawmun AAaseerun
Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. The Noble Quran
عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍ ﴿١٠﴾
AAala alkafireena ghayru yaseerin
Far from easy for the disbelievers. The Noble Quran
ذَرْنِى وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًا ﴿١١﴾
Tharnee waman khalaqtu waheedan
Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! The Noble Quran
وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُۥ مَالًا مَّمْدُودًا ﴿١٢﴾
WajaAAaltu lahu malan mamdoodan
And then granted him resources in abundance. The Noble Quran
وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًا ﴿١٣﴾
Wabaneena shuhoodan
And children to be by his side! The Noble Quran
وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُۥ تَمْهِيدًا ﴿١٤﴾
Wamahhadtu lahu tamheedan
And made life smooth and comfortable for him! The Noble Quran
ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ ﴿١٥﴾
Thumma yatmaAAu an azeeda
After all that he desires that I should give more; The Noble Quran
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِءَايَٰتِنَا عَنِيدًا ﴿١٦﴾
Kalla innahu kana liayatina AAaneedan
Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). The Noble Quran
سَأُرْهِقُهُۥ صَعُودًا ﴿١٧﴾
Saorhiquhu saAAoodan
I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! The Noble Quran
إِنَّهُۥ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ ﴿١٨﴾
Innahu fakkara waqaddara
Verily, he thought and plotted; The Noble Quran
فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ﴿١٩﴾
Faqutila kayfa qaddara
So let him be cursed! How he plotted! The Noble Quran
ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ﴿٢٠﴾
Thumma qutila kayfa qaddara
And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! The Noble Quran
ثُمَّ نَظَرَ ﴿٢١﴾
Thumma nathara
Then he thought; The Noble Quran
ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ ﴿٢٢﴾
Thumma AAabasa wabasara
Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; The Noble Quran
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ ﴿٢٣﴾
Thumma adbara waistakbara
Then he turned back and was proud; The Noble Quran
فَقَالَ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ ﴿٢٤﴾
Faqala in hatha illa sihrun yutharu
Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; The Noble Quran
إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوْلُ ٱلْبَشَرِ ﴿٢٥﴾
In hatha illa qawlu albashari
"This is nothing but the word of a human being!" The Noble Quran
سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ ﴿٢٦﴾
Saosleehi saqara
I will cast him into Hell-fire The Noble Quran
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُ ﴿٢٧﴾
Wama adraka ma saqaru
And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? The Noble Quran
لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُ ﴿٢٨﴾
La tubqee wala tatharu
It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! The Noble Quran
لَوَّاحَةٌ لِّلْبَشَرِ ﴿٢٩﴾
Lawwahatun lilbashari
Burning the skins! The Noble Quran
عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ ﴿٣٠﴾
AAalayha tisAAata AAashara
Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). The Noble Quran
وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَٰٓئِكَةً وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنًا وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًا كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ ﴿٣١﴾
Wama jaAAalna ashaba alnnari illa malaikatan wama jaAAalna AAiddatahum illa fitnatan lillatheena kafaroo liyastayqina allatheena ootoo alkitaba wayazdada allatheena amanoo eemanan wala yartaba allatheena ootoo alkitaba waalmuminoona waliyaqoola allatheena fee quloobihim maradun waalkafiroona matha arada Allahu bihatha mathalan kathalika yudillu Allahu man yashao wayahdee man yashao wama yaAAlamu junooda rabbika illa huwa wama hiya illa thikra lilbashari
And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. The Noble Quran
كَلَّا وَٱلْقَمَرِ ﴿٣٢﴾
Kalla waalqamari
Nay, and by the moon, The Noble Quran
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ ﴿٣٣﴾
Waallayli ith adbara
And by the night when it withdraws, The Noble Quran
وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَآ أَسْفَرَ ﴿٣٤﴾
Waalssubhi itha asfara
And by the dawn when it brightens, The Noble Quran
إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى ٱلْكُبَرِ ﴿٣٥﴾
Innaha laihda alkubari
Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. The Noble Quran
نَذِيرًا لِّلْبَشَرِ ﴿٣٦﴾
Natheeran lilbashari
A warning to mankind, The Noble Quran
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ ﴿٣٧﴾
Liman shaa minkum an yataqaddama aw yataakhkhara
To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), The Noble Quran
كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ ﴿٣٨﴾
Kullu nafsin bima kasabat raheenatun
Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, The Noble Quran
إِلَّآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٣٩﴾
Illa ashaba alyameeni
Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); The Noble Quran
فِى جَنَّٰتٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ﴿٤٠﴾
Fee jannatin yatasaaloona
In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, The Noble Quran
عَنِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿٤١﴾
AAani almujrimeena
About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): The Noble Quran
مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِى سَقَرَ ﴿٤٢﴾
Ma salakakum fee saqara
"What has caused you to enter Hell?" The Noble Quran
قَالُوا۟ لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٤٣﴾
Qaloo lam naku mina almusalleena
They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) The Noble Quran
وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ ٱلْمِسْكِينَ ﴿٤٤﴾
Walam naku nutAAimu almiskeena
"Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); The Noble Quran
وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾
Wakunna nakhoodu maAAa alkhaideena
"And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. The Noble Quran
وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿٤٦﴾
Wakunna nukaththibu biyawmi alddeeni
"And we used to belie the Day of Recompense The Noble Quran
حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلْيَقِينُ ﴿٤٧﴾
Hatta atana alyaqeenu
"Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." The Noble Quran
فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمْ شَفَٰعَةُ ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ ﴿٤٨﴾
Fama tanfaAAuhum shafaAAatu alshshafiAAeena
So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. The Noble Quran
فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلتَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾
Fama lahum AAani alttathkirati muAArideena
Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? The Noble Quran
كَأَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌ مُّسْتَنفِرَةٌ ﴿٥٠﴾
Kaannahum humurun mustanfiratun
As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. The Noble Quran
فَرَّتْ مِن قَسْوَرَةٍۭ ﴿٥١﴾
Farrat min qaswaratin
Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. The Noble Quran
بَلْ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُؤْتَىٰ صُحُفًا مُّنَشَّرَةً ﴿٥٢﴾
Bal yureedu kullu imriin minhum an yuta suhufan munashsharatan
Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad SAW has come with the truth from Allah the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc.). The Noble Quran
كَلَّا بَل لَّا يَخَافُونَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ ﴿٥٣﴾
Kalla bal la yakhafoona alakhirata
Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). The Noble Quran
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ تَذْكِرَةٌ ﴿٥٤﴾
Kalla innahu tathkiratun
Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, The Noble Quran
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ﴿٥٥﴾
Faman shaa thakarahu
So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! The Noble Quran
وَمَا يَذْكُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ هُوَ أَهْلُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَأَهْلُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ﴿٥٦﴾
Wama yathkuroona illa an yashaa Allahu huwa ahlu alttaqwa waahlu almaghfirati
And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). The Noble Quran
