Al-Lail 1

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ ﴿١﴾

Waallayli itha yaghsha

By the night as it envelops; The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 2

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ ﴿٢﴾

Waalnnahari itha tajalla

And by the day as it appears in brightness; The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 3

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ ﴿٣﴾

Wama khalaqa alththakara waalontha

And by Him Who created male and female; The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 4

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ ﴿٤﴾

Inna saAAyakum lashatta

Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 5

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ ﴿٥﴾

Faamma man aAAta waittaqa

As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 6

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ﴿٦﴾

Wasaddaqa bialhusna

And believes in Al-Husna. The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 7

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ﴿٧﴾

Fasanuyassiruhu lilyusra

We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 8

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴿٨﴾

Waamma man bakhila waistaghna

But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 9

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ﴿٩﴾

Wakaththaba bialhusna

And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 10

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ ﴿١٠﴾

Fasanuyassiruhu lilAAusra

We will make smooth for him the path for evil; The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 11

وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ ﴿١١﴾

Wama yughnee AAanhu maluhu itha taradda

And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 12

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ ﴿١٢﴾

Inna AAalayna lalhuda

Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 13

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْءَاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ ﴿١٣﴾

Wainna lana lalakhirata waaloola

And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 14

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ ﴿١٤﴾

Faanthartukum naran talaththa

Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 15

لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى ﴿١٥﴾

La yaslaha illa alashqa

None shall enter it save the most wretched, The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 16

ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿١٦﴾

Allathee kaththaba watawalla

Who denies and turns away. The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 17

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى ﴿١٧﴾

Wasayujannabuha alatqa

And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 18

ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ ﴿١٨﴾

Allathee yutee malahu yatazakka

He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 19

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰٓ ﴿١٩﴾

Wama liahadin AAindahu min niAAmatin tujza

And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 20

إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ﴿٢٠﴾

Illa ibtighaa wajhi rabbihi alaAAla

Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; The Noble Quran

Al-Lail 21

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ ﴿٢١﴾

Walasawfa yarda

He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). The Noble Quran
