Ash-Sharh 1

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ ﴿١﴾

Alam nashrah laka sadraka

Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))? The Noble Quran

Ash-Sharh 2

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ ﴿٢﴾

WawadaAAna AAanka wizraka

And removed from you your burden, The Noble Quran

Ash-Sharh 3

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ﴿٣﴾

Allathee anqada thahraka

Which weighed down your back? The Noble Quran

Ash-Sharh 4

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ ﴿٤﴾

WarafaAAna laka thikraka

And raised high your fame? The Noble Quran

Ash-Sharh 5

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٥﴾

Fainna maAAa alAAusri yusran

So verily, with the hardship, there is relief, The Noble Quran

Ash-Sharh 6

إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٦﴾

Inna maAAa alAAusri yusran

Verily, with the hardship, there is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs). The Noble Quran

Ash-Sharh 7

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ ﴿٧﴾

Faitha faraghta fainsab

So when you have finished (from your occupation), then stand up for Allah's worship (i.e. stand up for prayer). The Noble Quran

Ash-Sharh 8

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب ﴿٨﴾

Waila rabbika fairghab

And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your intentions and hopes and) your invocations. The Noble Quran
